For our harvest outdoor decor we placed two scarecrows a small one and a large one on the porch. We also put some hay and a pumpkin out to complete the look. We do a “harvest decoration” for the Oct/Nov timeframe because it goes for both Halloween and Thanksgiving thereby saving us some $$.
One day I went out and noticed the pumpkin was gone. This was right before Thanksgiving so I was actually looking to trash it (it had been out for about 30 days). See in our home, we don’t eat pumpkin anything so we only purchased it for decor, it was spared the fate of becoming food later. I thought that my gf had already trashed it since it was not there. Later that day I asked her about it and she thought that I had gotten rid of it. When we realized that none of us moved it….we said almost in unison “someone stole our pumpkin”.
So someone stole our pumpkin, without a doubt I know that they did it to use if for their Thanksgiving meal. All the other harvest decorations were left in tact.
Can you believe someone was was so stupid as to steal our pumpkin? Why do people think that they just have the right to take things from others? I thought for a moment that I hoped they gagged on whatever they made w/ it and died…but that was too harsh. So I just hoped they got really sick. I’m bad, I know…
But there are two types of people I despise one being a liar, the other being a thief. If they wanted it, why didn’t they just ask for it? Instead of being sneaky snakes in the grass? We weren’t going to use it anyway. I really wish I knew who did it…just for my own edification.
I can’t believe someone stole our pumpkin. It’s just the principal of the matter…some people….

A few times a year I get bit by the bug, I like to call it the Martha Stewart Bug.
I get all artsy and craftsy and start cooking and being a real domestic diva.
The bug is in full swing today and my baby loves it (cause she will be eating well)! For dinner I am making her (well, us actually) Old Bay Hot Crab Dip (for starters) and for the main course I am whipping up some Warm Chicken Sandwiches with Mushrooms, Spinach and Cheese. Thinking about a what type of side salad or veggies to add to that. Either I will pick up a bottle of white wine or open a bottle we have here (probably the latter). The kids will be eating hot dogs and french fries. They rarely like anything that isn’t shaped like a chicken nugget, so we have learned what they will eat and what they won’t through trial and error.
I found the sandwich recipe on epicurious.com and will be tweaking it (taking the advice of some of the reviews) to suit our tastes.
Today I finally resurrected my very neglected blog The Thrifty Lesbian, I just posted about our Christmas meals and how my goal is to feed our entire family for less than 75 bucks. Can it be done? I don’t know, but I will be posting my progress. If you are into personal finance, saving money and just being all around cheap frugal, like me, check out the site. www.thethriftylesbian.wordpress.com.
I think the kids and I will be making my famous hot chocolate treats next week. It is so cute and makes a great gift. I put hot chocolate in a small (preferably Christmas themed plastic bag), top it with marshmallows and finally chocolate chips and tie the bag with a colorful tie. I usually hand them out around this time of the year, but I am getting a late start so I think we will just make some just for us. Ironically one thing I don’t do is Gingerbread houses…my patience runs thin on them. T said she would do it with the kids and I know they will have a blast.
I am about to hit my favorite grocery store Wegmans in a few and then Toys R Us (last minute xmas shopping). Have a wonderful Saturday!

This morning, a 34-year old Walmart worker was pronounced dead after being stomped upon by Black Friday sale shoppers.
I repeat, the man is dead.
Dead.
I can’t believe we live in a society where people think saving 30% on some stupid toy is more important that the life of another. I hope the people who did this can sleep well at night knowing that while they were able to get gifts for their sons and daughters, a mother and father out there will be greiving the loss of their son. I can only imagine that they are thinking the best gift of all would be his life back…not some stupid toy or gadget. This young man’s death sentence was showing up to work, probably trying to make some extra cash in order to buy that special someone something special…
For me, what really puts the icing on this cake is that it’s Christmas! I am going to take a wild guess and conclude that most of the shoppers were shopping for Christmas gifts (a small minority probably shopping for themselves or just to take advantage of the good deals). But isn’t Christmas all about celebrating the birth of Jesus? Jesus, remember Him? The Prince of Peace? And this is what we do? Hurried, frenzy shoppers more concerned about what’s under the tree than their fellow neighbor. Are we crazy? How do you just stomp on a man? I was under the illusion that this was a civilized society, not a prehistoric barbaric one.
And people are worried about gays destroying the moral fabric of society? Let’s look at the childhoods of these folks and see what made them that way…

On a side note, the gf did go to our local Walmart, to get a few things for our little ones. While she said that she probably got the last parking space (way back yonder) and that there were no shopping carts and that it was just a madhouse…to my knowledge…no one died. Thank God for that.
